Dr. Candice Aipperspach, Associate Professor of Music, has taught at OBU since Fall 2022 where she teaches Studio Voice, Opera Workshop, and Vocal Diction. She has performed throughout the United States and places such as Austria, Germany, England, China, and South Korea. Dr. Aipperspach is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, where she has had several students place in competitions and served as Panhandle Chapter Vice President and President. Previously, Dr. Aipperspach taught at East Texas Baptist University from 2018-2022 where she served as the Vocal Area Coordinator. Courses frequently taught included Studio Voice, Vocal Pedagogy, Vocal Diction, Musical Theatre, Music History, and Survey of Western Music. Before that, she taught Studio Voice as Assistant Professor of Music at South Plains College in Levelland, TX. She, also, completed Levels I and II of Jeannette LoVetri’s Institute for Somatic Voicework in 2022.

An active performer, Dr. Aipperspach was a Fellow in England with the Cornish American Song Institute in 2018 where she performed in a Masterclass with Roger Vignoles. In 2017, she attended the Taos Opera Institute in Taos, New Mexico. Favorite past roles include Carousel (Nettie), South Pacific (Nellie), Les Misérables (Fantine), Titanic (Alice), She Loves Me (Ilona), A Little Night Music (Desiree), Carousel (Nettie), Le nozze di Figaro (Susanna), Susannah (Susannah) and Hänsel und Gretel (Witch). Direction credits include stage directing White Christmas, assistant stage directing Iolanthe, music directing A Christmas Carol, The Addams Family, Shrek, and Footloose, and stage directing/music directing/costuming You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at ETBU. As a stage director, Dr. Aipperspach spent July 2019 stage directing opera scenes in Mondavio, Italy.
