Biblical Languages

A Major in Biblical Languages requires completion of the University CORE (49 hours), 30 hours of GREK and HEBR courses, a minor in Christian Studies, and CHST 1001.  Students may choose to major in Christian Studies in place of the minor.

This major equips students to read and interpret biblical texts directly from the language in which they were originally written.  It provides an essential foundation for those desiring to be accurate biblical teachers, preachers or translators, as well as providing preparation for a variety of graduate studies at seminaries or other institutions of higher learning.

Minor in Biblical Languages

All Ouachita students have the opportunity to take either Greek or Hebrew as their CORE Foreign Language Requirement. In addition, Ouachita offers a Minor in Biblical Languages, Biblical Hebrew and New Testament Greek. Each of those minors includes six classes or three years of study.
