About
Bruce Hurley Johnston is a Berklee-trained multi-instrumentalist, originally from Searcy, Ark. He began his music studies on guitar with Chuck Hicks at Harding University. In 2000, he was the recipient of a Talent Scholarship from Berklee College of Music and would go on to graduate Summa Cum Laude.
Johnston studied composition with acclaimed composers John Bavicchi and Dennis Kam along the way. He has won several composition and film scoring awards and has collaborated and performed on classical guitar with avant-garde music legend Elliott Sharp. He has also studied with jazz legends Rusty Holloway, Donald Brown and Jerry Coker.
Johnston has 18 years of experience teaching private lessons on both guitar and bass. He can be seen performing around the mid-South including every Sunday morning at The Church at Rock Creek in Little Rock, Ark.

What do you like most about your field?
I love working in a creative arts environment, and I teach so that I can share this process with students and helping them to grow and reach their potential in their craft. Touching lives through music and through teaching is a calling that I can only describe as an absolute truth in my life. There is nothing that energizes me like sharing my love of music.
