Dr. Natilan Crutcher is a minister, voice teacher, choir director, performer, and composer born and raised in Hermitage, Tenn. Dr. Crutcher joined the voice faculty at Ouachita in 2019 and serves as a voice instructor and choral director of the Ouachita Women’s Chorus and MSP Gospel Choir. She received her B.A. in Voice Performance at Lipscomb University and her M.M. and D.M.A. in Voice Performance at West Virginia University.

As a teacher, she has had the privilege of teaching children and adults at the West Virginia Community Music Program, and she served as an Adjunct Instructor of Voice at West Virginia University. As a performer, she has performed a wide range of genres such as Pop, R&B, Gospel, Jazz, Spirituals, Musical Theatre, Art Song, Oratorio and Opera. As a composer, she has been fortunate to have her works performed by students at Lipscomb University and Ouachita Baptist University. She has composed and released two albums of music. Her first album titled “Expressions” was released in October of 2020. Her second album titled “Awakening” was released in November of 2021. Both albums provide a broad range of instrumental selections featuring strings, woodwinds, piano and more.

During her collegiate studies, she performed in numerous recitals and competed in competitions such at NATS, and The Spirituals Voice Competition. She was the recipient of the Performer of the Year award in 2013 at Lipscomb University. During her graduate studies, she performed mezzo-soprano and soprano roles such as Carmen (Carmen), Hänsel (Hänsel and Gretel), Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), and Mrs. Gobineau (The Medium) and has been fortunate to work with international performers and directors such as Gustavo Halley and Marcello Cormio.

Since completing her DMA, she has had opportunities to perform as a soloist and guest artist for churches and special events throughout Arkansas and Tennessee. In the summer of 2022, she performed the role of Ethel Toffelmier as a Young Artist in The Muses Creative Artistry Project’s production of “The Music Man”.

As a minister, she is a strong advocate for community service and outreach and has shared the Gospel, worshiped, and performed for churches in Tennessee, West Virginia, and Arkansas. She has served as a member of the choir and praise team at churches such as First Baptist Hopewell, Hall Memorial, Restoring Life Ministries, and St. Luke AME of Gallatin Tennessee. Her ministry is to share the truth of the Gospel and the love of Jesus Christ in all that she does in her professional and personal life.
